Dear John Reed Families,

I am so excited to begin the 2023-2024 school year! I had a wonderful Summer - spending time at an Educational Conference to learn about more ways to enrich the lives of our students at John Reed, I spent time with my family and finally got to explore the Mayan pyramids in Mexico! I love our community at John Reed, and we have quite a year ahead. Please check out our Family Resource Center on campus, as well as check out all the offerings for after school enrichment.

A little about myself: I am a product of Cotati-Rohnert Park schools, and it feels great to be working in the district where I first began my own education. After graduating from Rancho Cotate High School, I attended UC Santa Cruz with a major in Cultural Studies, I eventually graduated from Sonoma State University in American Multi - Cultural Studies. Cultural studies was always a fascination for me, as my family immigrated from Scotland and El Salvador. I have had the amazing opportunity to live in both countries. I earned my Special Education Teaching Credential from SSU, and a few years later I returned for my Administrative Services Credential, and Masters program in Educational Leadership.  I am passionate about education, social justice, and greatly enjoy reading, and traveling. In my spare time I am often cheering on my own kids at their various sporting events, or rooting for Liverpool FC, the SF Giants or Warriors. Soccer was a constant for me growing up and continues to be to this day, you may even catch me trying to nutmeg a student and pulling a muscle instead! I love working in schools, and I am doing what I love most: being a part of educating children.

I believe that our schools should be a place to gather, and I seek to draw our families back to our schools. I will work to ensure John Reed is a place where your child's needs will be met: socially, academically, emotionally, and behaviorally. Please stop by anytime - my door will always be open.

Warmly,

AnnaMaria Young
